Native Plant Seed Sowing Volunteer Day

Saturday, Feb 1, 2020

1:00pm – 4:00pm

Join us to sow seeds of grassland plants that we collected and cleaned in the fall. The seeds have been stored in moist sand in the fridge for at least two months and we will sow them into flats, which will then be placed under lights or in a greenhouse. The activity will take place in a heated garage.

This volunteer day will contribute to our new native grassland seed propagation project. We are propagating grassland plants to restore our fields at the Clifton Institute, to establish reservoir populations of declining plants, and to provide local-ecotype seeds for other restoration projects in the area.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE HARRIS’S HEATED GARAGE IN ORLEAN, VA.

Please email Bert at bharris@cliftoninstitute.org if you are available to help. He will email participants the address and directions.
