Nature Journaling with Joyce Andrew
Saturday, Oct 12, 2019
2:00pm – 4:00pm
Nature journaling allows you to slow down and immerse yourself in the marvelous natural world. One does not need to be an artist to keep a nature journal. Journals can be simple or elaborate. Journals can contain photos, poems, quotes or even clippings from newspapers or magazines. We will discuss basic journaling equipment, then focus on how to observe and document your findings as well as how to organize your journal. Anyone can develop these skills. We will have discussion followed by some time outdoors exploring.
Joyce first started Nature Journaling about ten years ago. She took a class at a Virginia Master Naturalist meeting and decided this would allow her to combine her love of nature with art. She went out bought a journal and got started. Her entries usually contain some sketch with a description of what she observed or felt.
What to bring: a journal or sketchbook (preferably something with a hard back, no lines, spiral bound, and small enough to take into the field), a pencil or pen, a desire to explore a different way of looking at nature.
