Virginia History at Clifton Farm- Homeschool Program
Wednesday, Oct 30, 2019
9:30am – 12:00pm
There is a lot of history at the Clifton Institute! From Native American culture to the history of enslaved peoples and to agricultural history of Virginia, this program will emphasize the contributions made by people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We will investigate and tour our partially restored log cabin behind the farmhouse, hike to a spring house, and dig into history with simulated archaeological lab work. Students will apply geographic, economic, and civic concepts to examine the influence of physical and cultural geography on Virginia history. Furthermore, to connect learning to the biodiversity of the natural landscape, we will discuss how different groups of people throughout history used the land to survive and reflect on our own relationships with nature.
Targeted for ages 8-11; siblings are welcome to attend
