Mindful Naturalists: Leave Only Poetry

Thursday, Aug 15, 2019

7:00pm – 8:30pm

Mindful Naturalists is a BRAND NEW, free program series designed to inspire appreciating each moment of our observations in nature. Each month we will explore a different topic and experiment with a different practice for mindfully experiencing the natural world while enjoying hot tea and a peaceful evening at our beautiful field station.

To kick off the series, Education Associate Alison will share her practice called ‘Leave Only Poetry’ as a way to:

  • Enjoy the process of writing poetry and other short, creative writing forms without fear or self-criticism
  • Add different layers of meaning to our experiences with wildlife and observations in nature
  • Reflect on how we react to experiencing the natural world and what is important for us about those interactions

We will relax along the banks of the upper pond and watch quietly for beaver and other wildlife while responding to our surroundings through writing. Everyone is a poet!

All materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring: a comfy portable chair, a travel mug, a notebook, your favorite writing instrument, and an open mind!

No writing or mindfulness experience required. Please register using the button below.
