DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of friendly, informal discussion with fellow nature lovers. This winter, the Clifton Institute Book Club will read poetry by Mary Oliver. We will gather around the fireplace in the cabin behind the farmhouse (built in 1819!). If you are new to reading Oliver, we recommend Devotions because it is a compilation of poems from various collections, but please select any Mary Oliver work of your choice and come prepared to read aloud your favorite poem.

A selection of Mary Oliver books are available through The Old Town Open Book in Warrenton, so please support our local community\'s local, independent bookstore if you can! (Order in store, online, or over the phone. Curbside pickup, in-store pickup, and home delivery is available.)

Cost: Free!

Age: Adults

Weather policy: Rain or shine except in case of extreme weather (e.g. thunderstorm or significant snow fall). Please check your email for updates on the morning of the event.

COVID-19 information: This program will occur in a partially-renovated, well-ventilated cabin and is limited to 10 people. Please DO NOT attend if you or anyone in your household has experienced any symptoms related to the coronavirus in the last two weeks. The farmhouse will be closed.

Cancellation policy: If you register and can no longer attend this event please let us know as soon as possible. Due to smaller group size limits imposed by COVID, many of our events have waitlists, and a few ‘no-shows’ have a significant impact.

What to wear: Dress for the weather.

What to bring: Mask (required), hot beverage of your choice, your favorite Mary Oliver poem/book
