DESCRIPTION:We’re partnering with Fauquier County Parks and Recreation and heading to the beautiful Riverside Preserve for an insect walk! Co-Director Bert Harris will be leading this event. The walk will meet at the lower parking lot of Riverside Preserve. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nRegistration is through FCPS: https://tinyurl.com/4rbwse42 \nCost: $12 \nAge: Adults and children accompanied by an adult. \nBring: Anything you need to be comfortable outside! Clothing appropriate for the weather\, hat\, sunglasses\, water\, bug spray\, sunscreen. \nWeather policy: Date and time subject to change dependent on weather. SUMMARY:Lichen Walk at Riverside Preserve
DESCRIPTION:On this program Executive Director and amateur lichenologist Bert Harris will guide participants on a lichen walk at Riverside Preserve. This county park hosts a fascinating community of lichens on mature American Hornbeams along the Rappahannock River. Sandstone outcrops host quite a few other interesting species. DESCRIPTION:Come along while we partner with the Fauquier County Department of Parks and Recreation to participate in the Parks for Pollinators Bioblitz!   \nWe’ll explore Riverside Preserve with the goal of documenting as many different kinds of butterflies and bees as possible! This event is part of the Fauquier County Bee City USA initiative to learn about and conserve pollinators in our county. All levels of naturalists are welcome! \nPlease note that this program meets at Riverside Preserve\, NOT at the Clifton Institute. The address is 8150 Leeds Manor Rd\, Marshall\, VA 20115. We will meet by the environmental education shed / port-a-potty.
