SUMMARY:Firefly Walk
DESCRIPTION:Who doesn’t love fireflies? Many of us have fond memories of catching fireflies or watching a magical light show on a summer evening. But why do fireflies flash? What do they eat? How many species are there? And are fireflies disappearing? Learn all about these fascinating insects with Ariel Firebaugh\, firefly researcher and Director of Scientific Engagement at UVA’s Blandy Experimental Farm (Boyce\, VA). After a short talk\, we’ll walk around grounds\, practice identification\, and enjoy the light show! \nCost: $10 ($5 for Friends of Clifton) \nAge: Adults and children accompanied by an adult. \nBring: Please bring a flashlight. \nWeather policy: Date and time subject to change dependent on weather. Please check your email for updates on the morning of the event. \nCOVID-19 Information: This program will include a brief presentation indoors. We are requiring all participants to be fully vaccinated. We will ask to see vaccination cards. Please do not attend if you are experiencing or have experienced in the last two weeks any symptoms associated with COVID-19 (fever\, cough\, shortness of breath\, etc.). \nRegistration is REQUIRED. \nCancellation policy: If you register and can no longer attend this event\, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can open your spot to someone else.
