SUMMARY:Backyard Meadow Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a hands-on workshop on how to start your very own small meadow at home! We will discuss important steps like choosing a location\, selecting the right plants\, and how to maintain your meadow after planting. Then we’ll tour Clifton’s new demonstration backyard meadow featuring three different site-preparation methods – solarization with plastic\, herbicide treatment\, and sod removal to address existing weeds and grasses – and discuss the pros and cons of each approach. We’ll also do a hands-on demonstration of how to plant your native seeds once a site is prepared. \nWhether you have a large yard or would like to start with a small patch\, you’ll learn practical\, beginner-friendly methods to help you take a boring patch of lawn and turn it into a space that’s buzzing with benefits for native wildlife and pollinators! \nCost: \nChildren 18 and under – Free \nAdults – $15 (All proceeds from our programs go directly to funding our education programs\, restoration work\, and research projects. Thank you for your support!) \nAge: Adults and children accompanied by an adult. \nWeather policy: Date and time subject to change dependent on weather.
