Managing Director and passionate nature journaler Eleanor Harris runs quarterly nature journaling meetups to help people develop their nature journaling skills and meet other nature journalers in the area. Whether you have been nature journaling for years or have never nature journaled before but want to try it out\, this event is for you! In May\, we’ll be focusing on flowers! Eleanor will give a brief introduction to the biology of flowers and some ideas for how to include them in your nature journal. \nCost: Free! \nAge: Adults and children accompanied by an adult. \nBring: Please bring a journal and art supplies. Just a piece of paper and pencil will be enough. DESCRIPTION:Sedges are one of the most diverse and ecologically important plant groups in Virginia. There are 201 species just in the genus Carex in the state! But what are sedges and how can they be identified? Join sedge expert Greg Chapman to get answers to these questions and more\, as we partner with Virginia Working Landscapes to get more familiar with these plants! \nThere will be a short lecture followed by a walk to practice finding and identifying sedges in the wild. The walk may be up to a mile over variable terrain. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather and bring drinking water. \nCost: Free! \nAge: This program is intended for an adult audience.
