Dr. Head, founder of the Institute, emphasized health optimization through personal responsibility, a value we continue to embrace today. The Clifton Institute coordinates with foundations, universities, corporations and broadcasters to produce an innovative and effective health promotion program. Throughout its history the Institute has arranged conferences and meetings, developed documentary television programs and was one of the first institutions to conduct webcasts.
The Institute's efforts in health promotion are based upon the belief that a sharp distinction exists between disease prevention and health promotion. Health promotion consists of the development of lifestyle habits which essentially healthy individuals and communities can adopt to enhance their well-being. Our programs and partnerships seek to research, discuss and encourage healthy lifestyle habits for everyone.
Our health promotion effort is led by Clifton Institute Vice President Dr. Robert Karch, a founding member of the Institute. Dr. Karch is also the Executive Director of the International Institute for Health Promotion and a Professor at American University.
